Outside My Office Window

Today is cold and snowy. Since I didn't feel terrific, I decided to keep my camera with me in my office and see what kind of pictures I could get today. Kind of Fun!
I keep the bird feeders right out my window and am able to enjoy it all day, all year long!

The deer are attractive except when they are eating my bird feed or eating my garden!!

Only In Montana

Yesterday Laurence called me into the living room to show me this.
Turkeys in our neighbor lady's apple tree. I'm guessing that since we had such an early hard frost she still has apples in the tree. By the time all was done we had 5 large turkeys in her little apple tree.
It seemed like it should be the beginning of a joke... how many turkeys can you get in one small apple tree???
They came back again today, but I only saw 3 actually in the tree.
A few days ago I had 29 in the yard, but none in the tree that time.

Venison Anyone? Grass and Garden Fed!!

I have been wondering for a while now if I was watering the deer at night as the birdbath seems to be emptying quickly. Today as I was sitting at my office desk, I saw this gentleman walk straight across the lawn, directly to the bird bath. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing! When I opened the blinds this morning I had 7 does in the yard outside my window. Too bad people can't hunt in town, they could fill their freezer and hardly ever leave my deck!! :)

Hmmm... Glad We Weren't Christmas Dinner!!

Lately I've been wondering if I actually own my home and property or if we happen to be placed in the middle of someone's wildlife refuge. :)The turkeys seem to be back for a while. They usually come during the winter. They do a great job cleaning up under the bird feeders;) These guys are pretty fat, they'd make a great dinner for someone willing to do it. I remember once when mom and dad were gone, Grandma & Grandpa Baird were staying with my brother and me. There was a sage hen in the yard. Grandma had my brother go shoot it, then we had it for dinner. There was NO WAY I was going to eat it. I still feel that way.
They all seem to live in harmony...... I just wish the deer would live happily in someone else's yard.
No wonder I can't keep my birdbath filled!!

The Self Fertilizing Yard

This is part of our resident fertilizers. Unfortunately we've been unable to teach them the difference between the sidewalk, the yard and the garden.
